It feels like it’s been a long pregnancy but it really hasn’t, the average gestation period for a German Shepherd is a little over 3  months, 63 days to be exact.  So we have moved along quicker than it felt!

Enough of my short story and on to the puppies….

This litter is from Luxanna’s Roxanne and Deblyn’s Just After Midnight from Debyln’s German Shepherds, both are OFA Good Hips and Elbows with good temperaments.

We had 6 pups total, 1 female and 5 males.  At this time 3 males are available, a deposit will hold your pick!

These puppies are tan and black with very nice dark coats, AKC registration is in process, they will be vaccinated and ready for their new homes by Sept 18, 2011.

Dog handler Pc Tony Herson retires later this year with Jake and Lennie

Police dogs are being retired on their own “pensions” and “health plans” by the Cambridge Shire Force.

It is believed to be the first force in England to take on the costs of retired police dogs.

Previously an officer would sign a disclaimer taking responsibility for the dog’s actions and medical care – otherwise the animal would be re-homed.

But now Cambridge Shire Police is paying for the food, vet bills and kenneling costs during an animal’s retirement.

‘Marvelous news’

So far eight police dogs in Cambridge Shire have benefited from the canine pension plan.

Sheila Maw, a dog breeder and chairman of the Retired Lancashire Police Dog Benevolent Fund charity, said: “Before we started three years ago we did a survey of all the police forces in the UK and none of the 90% who replied had a retirement scheme for dogs.

“It’s marvelous news that Cambridge Shire police are doing this, as many handlers have to give up their dogs when they retire through ill health or old age as they can’t afford to look after them.”

Mrs Maw said she did not know of any other police force which paid for its police dogs’ retirement in this way.

However she said the Avon & Somerset and Lancashire forces both had charities which supported their dogs in retirement.

Just a little humor I wanted to share, I’m sure we’ve all been there at some point!

• Pour cold apple juice on the carpet in several places and walk around barefoot in the dark
• Wear a sock to work that has had the toes shredded by a blender
• Immediately upon waking, stand outside in the rain and dark saying, “Be a good puppy and go potty-hurry up now — come on, let’s go.
• Cover all of your best suits with dog hair. Dark suits must have white hair and light suits must have dark. Also, some hair must be in your first cup of morning coffee
• Play catch with a wet tennis ball
• Run out in the snow in your bare feet to close the gate
• Tip over a basket of clean laundry, scatter clothing all over the floor, taking care to shred at least one of each pair of socks.(See above.
• When the doorbell rings drop your dirty underwear on the living room floor, because that is where the pup will drag it anyway — after all, company is coming
• Jump out of your chair shortly before the end of your favorite TV show and run to the door shouting, “No, NO! Do that OUTSIDE!” Miss the end of the program
• Gouge the leg of the dining room table several times with a Screwdriver
• Put chocolate pudding on the carpet in the morning, and do not try to clean it up until you return from work that evening
• Take a warm, cuddly blanket out of the dryer and immediately wrap it around yourself. This is the feeling you get when your puppy falls asleep on your lap.

Flex is a very active 4-year old German Shepherd Dog! His favorite activity is herding! He loves to herd sheep, cattle and ducks. He has earned his Started titles in herding and this year we are competing in the advanced classes. He is also a “Show-Dog”! He competes in multiple venues in the AKC and International conformation ring. He is currently rated the top ranked dog competing for the International 2009 Gold Cup.

Flex finished his AKC Championship last year and is competing in the Best of Breed competition in the AKC ring. He currently has earned 13 Best of Breeds with Group placements. Flex also enjoys participating in Performance events. He has earned his Companion Dog and Rally Excellent titles. We are currently working on retrieving over the jump for his Open title. Most importantly, Flex is our companion.

He loves to play with his Henrietta chicken and his tennis ball! He loves to go for a walk and bark or try to chase the squirrels! He sleeps wherever he wants and always gets plenty of attention!
